Setting new standards for rotary steering economics

DPM™

The PathFinder DPM™ tool is an important consideration for any LWD application. The DPM™ tool uses two independent pressure transducers to measure drillpipe and annulus pressures and temperatures. Information is displayed in the form of a time and depth based log, based on annular pressures and temperatures along with drill pipe pressures. These measurements allow continual monitoring of these parameters, permitting real-time monitoring of ECD due to lost circulation, washouts, cuttings overload and gas/fluid influx, etc.

Timely identification and reaction to these dynamic conditions are critical to the overall safety of the drilling operation as well as the hydraulic sensitivity of the formations being drilled.

Equipped with a DataLinkTM at each end, the tool can be added at any position within a PathFinder BHA.

The SURVIVOR™ DPM™ tool comprises of two independent and highly accurate quartz gauges that provide static and dynamic annular pressure, borehole pressure and temperature measurements in hostile drilling environments. The transmitted resolution of these pressure measurements are to 1.0 psi with exceptional accuracy and repeatability that provide excellent data during leak-off and formation integrity tests. Real-time well monitoring application for this tool include ECD management, swab/surge and connection monitoring, cutting overloading detecting overloading of cuttings in the annulus, borehole damage, drill string washout, and early identifcation of formation influxes. A 2 second data acquisition rate provides a 1000 hour logging capacity for extremely extended runs in standard or HPHT (350°F/25,000 psi) environments.

Timely identification and reaction to these dynamic conditions are critical to the overall safety of the drilling operation as well as the hydraulic sensitivity of the formations being drilled.
